A smile on a rainy day

I woke up today to cooler temperatures, gray skies, and more rain in the forecast. Really, can't the weather at least tease me and make me believe that it's going to be a nice week to have off? I need to get over to plot #10 and see what's happening there. I need to get that compost mixed in with the other soil and check on the other things that are in there. I'd appreciate some rain, but I don't need a mud pit over there!

I have been watching our professional greenhouse of seeds and have seen little progress in the 12 days that it's been since we planted. I realized though when looking at the seed packets the other night that it is going to take a bit longer to see growth with my seeds since my apartment isn't kept at a constant temperature of 70-75 degrees.

I came home from school today and immediately checked in on the little sunflower that popped up on Tuesday. Much to my surprise, I had new growth! And it wasn't on the sunflower! I quickly turned the tray around to see what it had pushed through the soil, in an effort to find the sunlight. Yay! It's French Radish! I especially like that it looks like most of the seeds that were put into that particular peat are growing. That means that we'll have plenty of plants to move to plot #10 even if half of our seeds grow!

Here are a few pictures of the sunflower that has been growing SO fast this week! He'll soon be taller than the lid that fits on the greenhouse! There are a few more sunflower plants that are starting to emerge in their row as well.

Pictures - Wednesday afternoon, Friday morning, Friday evening, Friday evening.
